iPhone 5 has finally been unveiled by the Apple a few days back amid much speculation regarding everything from its naming to its features and design. But, all that has been put to rest now along with many more things. Initially, even the name of the device was the source of much speculation, with Apple even stoking the rumors more at a point of time. Only, the inner circle of Apple was in the loop about the device’s complete functionalists  But, with the launch many claims and rumors have been put to rest, some queries answered to and some baseless rumors totally blown away.

One of the hottest rumors going around at a certain time was the name of the smartphone. Apple’s on admissions and releases sought to stoke the matter further on. But, when the invitation cards for the launch event was opened, all that was quickly brushed away, when everyone found that it will be simple known as iPhone 5.

The other bigger source of all the speculation was definitely the screen size of the iPhone 5. While some predicted that the screen will be large enough to rival the 4.8” behemoth on Galaxy SIII, some other thought that Apple, being a stereotype that it is will not changing the size at all. But, as usual Apple managed to put their ball in the middle by increasing the screen size, and yet keeping well afar from the S III, at 4”.

This also changes the aspect ratio from 3:2 to the widescreen 16:9, providing for better web browsing experience coupled with better experiences in gaming, ebooks, videos, and GPS navigation. Also it has managed to pack in enough pixels on the bigger screen to render the retina display to the user.

One of the few claims that have managed to hit the bull’s eye is the claim regarding the iPhone 5’s LTE support. Much to the delight of everyone, it does indeed support LTE networks on carriers such as AT&T and Verizon. In addition, as claimed and rumored about, the connector has been changed with the 30-pin connector making way to the much smaller, and compact 8-pin connector, which paves the way for a slimmer body, and a bigger battery.

Though the battery lefts much to be desired after use, the iPhone is definitely now one of the world’s slimmest and thinnest smartphones available. This was possible to a large extent due to the integration of touch sensors along with actual display circuits. But, with the change in its connector, Apple will quickly have to develop an adapter to support the myriad device ecosystems developed around its old connector.

Now, a special mention must be made about the various iphone cases for iPhone 5 coming up. There are many types available out there to suit everyone’s palate. You can go for simple metallic ones to trendy designer ones to spice up your smart phone. The scratch-prone back of the phone is also saved due to this and it definitely provides for better durability and safety of the phone. So, go ahead and take your pick.
